After months of anticipation, director Mejbaur Rahman Sumon has confirmed that his new film ‘Raid’ will be released in theatres during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
Sumon, who gained critical and commercial success with Hawa, returns with this project nearly four years later. Initially, he planned a post-Eid release to allow audiences a quieter viewing experience. However, due to scheduling challenges and the upcoming World Cup, the release was brought forward.
The film stars Mostafizur Noor Imran and Nazifa Tushi in lead roles. Supporting cast members include Gazi Raqayet and Ahsabul Yamin Riyadh.
Ahead of the release, the film’s first song, Roide Aila Ga Jurai, has been unveiled. The track is written and composed by Rajib Ahmed Raju of the Sahaziya band, with music direction by Rashid Sharif Shoaib.
According to the director, work on the song began nearly a year before filming started. He described it as more than just a track—calling it the beginning of the film’s journey. He hopes the film’s story will leave a strong impression, much like the tone set by the song.
Earlier, the film—previously referred to as ‘Roide’—was officially selected for the prestigious Tiger Competition section at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, marking a significant milestone.
