630 Cartons of Cigarettes Seized at Chittagong Airport

Customs authorities seized 630 cartons of illegal cigarettes from two passengers at Shah Amanat International Airport on Tuesday night. The passengers had arrived from Abu Dhabi on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-128.

Acting on a tip-off from National Security Intelligence (NSI), a joint team of Airport Customs and Customs Intelligence searched the duo’s luggage. Along with the cigarettes, officials recovered five smartphones.

Airport Public Relations Officer Ibrahim Khalil confirmed the seizure, estimating the total market value of the goods at Tk 1.35 million. While the items were confiscated, the passengers received an official warning regarding the import violation.
