Restrictions on airport operations in Saudi Arabia have disrupted 103 direct and transit flights since Saturday and leaving 15,779 passengers in uncertainty according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).
CAAB data released on Thursday revealed that 42 direct flights and 61 connecting flights operated by various carriers were affected.
Among direct operators the national carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines recorded 17 disrupted flights, US-Bangla Airlines 10, Saudia Airlines eight and Riyadh Airways seven.
For transit operators the Indian carrier IndiGo saw the largest disruption with 22 affected flights followed by Emirates Airlines with 14, Qatar Airways with eight, Salam Air with seven, Flydubai with six, Air India with three and EgyptAir with one.
The unexpected operational restrictions have triggered widespread travel anxiety across the country, particularly impacting thousands of Bangladeshi migrant workers heading back to their workplaces and passengers connecting through regional transit hubs. Authorities are monitoring the situation to assist stranded travelers.
