Former actor Sana Khan has addressed long-standing speculation regarding her departure from the entertainment industry, clarifying that her decision to embrace a religious life was deeply personal and not forced by her husband.
In a recent conversation with actor Rashami Desai, Sana—who rose to fame through Bigg Boss 6 and films like Jai Ho—shared that her transformation began well before her marriage to Islamic scholar Mufti Anas Sayed in November 2020.
Sana revealed that her wedding was kept so confidential that even the henna artist was not told the groom’s name. "When my marriage was finalized, it was a top secret," she said. "The situation was such that I was transforming into a different person. This was something I wanted for myself; he [Anas Sayed] simply guided me in that direction."
Addressing online criticism that she was "brainwashed," Sana was firm: "Nobody can brainwash you. I wanted peace. A person may have money and fame, but they eventually search for inner peace."
The former actress noted that her extended family was also unaware of the union until the day of the Nikah. She praised her husband for his support and for managing the wedding arrangements and expenses.
Adding weight to Sana's claims, fellow actor Zareen Khan recently remarked that Sana had always been religious. "She made a complete switch when she got married, but she was always inclined toward faith," Zareen told Hindi Rush.
Sana concluded by stating that she values her current life and relationship more than the "wrong decisions" of her past, emphasizing that the shift was a difficult but rewarding choice for her mental and spiritual well-being.
