Notorious 'Killer Zahid' Arrested with Arms Cache in Pabna

The District Intelligence Branch (DB) has arrested Zahidul Islam, popularly known as "Killer Zahid," a primary suspect in several high-profile criminal cases, following a raid in Pabna municipality. Police recovered a significant cache of firearms, ammunition, and weapon-making tools during the operation.

Acting on the directives of Superintendent of Police Md. Anwar Zahid, a specialized DB team conducted the drive on Friday afternoon. The raid took place at a rented flat on Bazlul Haque Road in the Dilalpur area. Zahid, the son of the late Bachchu Sardar of Kashipur, was apprehended inside the guest room of the apartment.

During the search, law enforcement officials seized one double-barrel one-shooter gun, one single-barrel one-shooter gun, 12-bore cartridges and a .22 bore revolver chamber, Sharp weapons, including a sword and a Chinese axe also Weapon-manufacturing equipment firearm triggers, springs, an electric drill, and hacksaw blades.

According to DB Officer-in-Charge Rashedul Islam, Zahid is a career criminal with a history of sensational offenses. He is a key accused in the 2016 murder of Nityaranjan Saha Pandey, a staff member of the Hemayetpur Sri Sri Thakur Anukul Chandra Ashram. He is also accused in the brutal assault on Hemayetpur UP Chairman Muntaj Ali, whose hand was severed during the attack.

In addition to these violent crimes, Zahid faces multiple pending drug-related charges.

A fresh case under the Arms Act has been filed against the suspect at the Pabna Sadar Police Station. He was officially handed over to the police on Saturday morning for further legal proceedings.
