Three Family Members Buried Side-by-Side in Chauddagram

Three members of a single family, who tragically perished in the Uttara residential building fire, were laid to rest side-by-side on Saturday. The burial took place at their family graveyard in Chiora Union, Chauddagram, following a funeral service at 11:30 am.

The deceased are Kazi Fazle Rabbi Rizvi (38), his wife Afroza Akhter Suborna (37), and their two-year-old son, Kazi Fayyaz Rishan.

Kazi Fazle Rabbi, a member of the well-known Kazi family of Chiora, was employed at SK+F Pharmaceuticals Limited. His wife, Afroza Akhter, served as a senior executive at Square Pharmaceuticals. The couple lived in Dhaka with their two sons, Fayyaz and Rafsan.

The fire broke out on Friday morning on the second floor of a six-story building in Uttara Sector 11.

While fire service personnel managed to control the blaze and rescue 16 individuals, six people ultimately lost their lives. Among the victims were Rabbi, his wife, and their youngest child.

The fire occurred on Friday morning in Uttara Sector 11. Six people died in total, including Kazi Fazle Rabbi Rizvi, his wife Afroza Akhter, and their son Fayyaz. Burial took place in Chauddagram, Cumilla, on Saturday, January 17, 2026.
