Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has urged voters to cast their ballots freely and responsibly in tomorrow’s 13th Jatiya Sangsad Election and Referendum 2026.
He made the appeal in a televised address to the nation on Tuesday evening, broadcast live on state-run Bangladesh Television (BTV).
In his speech, the CEC outlined the Election Commission’s overall preparations and expectations. He described voting not only as a civic right but also as a civic duty, expressing hope that voters across the country would take part consciously and responsibly.
Calling on political parties, candidates and voters to maintain a peaceful and cordial atmosphere, he said differences of opinion are a natural part of democracy. He urged voters to go to polling centres in a festive spirit and vote for their preferred candidates.
The CEC said election results—whether victory or defeat—must be accepted calmly and normally as part of the democratic process.
He also called on all election-related officials to ensure a successful election, even if it involves personal hardship. Reaffirming the commission’s commitment to peaceful voting, he said election officials, judicial officers and law enforcement agencies are actively deployed across the country to prevent any untoward incidents.
Expressing optimism, the CEC said collective efforts would help ensure a peaceful and credible election.
Polling will be held simultaneously across the country from 7:30am to 4:30pm on Wednesday, without any break.
