Two killed, 30 injured as passenger bus overturns in Bhanga, Faridpur

The accident occurred in front of the CCPL petrol pump in Suadi area of ​​Bhanga upazila on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Bhanga upazila at around 1:30 pm on Wednesday.

Police and locals said that the bus named Narail Express, bound for Narail from Dhaka, was about to enter the petrol pump to get fuel. At that time, another pickup truck loaded with chickens came from in front and the road braked, causing the Narail bus to overturn. Two people died on the spot. The injured were rescued and admitted to Bhanga Health Complex. As the condition of 10 people is critical, they have been sent to Faridpur and Dhaka hospitals.

One of the two deceased is the bus supervisor Shariful Islam.

The identity of the other deceased could not be immediately ascertained.

On the other hand, two buses collided head-on in the Koidubi area of ​​Bhanga Upazila on the Dhaka-Barisal highway at around 1:45 pm. A Dhaka-bound bus named Sakura Paribahan and another Barisal-bound bus named Unique Paribahan collided head-on, injuring 20 passengers. The injured have been admitted to Bhanga Hospital.

Bhanga Highway Police Station SI Mamun said that after receiving the information, Bhanga Fire Service and Bhanga Highway Police launched a rescue operation. Two people died on the spot. Out of these, 10 were seriously injured. The vehicle was recovered and brought to Bhanga Highway Police Station. The injured have been sent to Bhanga Upazila Health Complex. Legal action has been taken in this regard.
