


The district administration has made extensive preparations to ensure a festive and safe environment in the port city of Chattogram, focusing on the upcoming national parliament elections. Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Zahidul Islam Miah said that the main goal of the administration is now to ensure that voters can go to the center without any problems and return home safely.
He shared this information with media personnel while inspecting the election equipment distribution program at the Chattogram District Stadium on Wednesday (February 11) afternoon.
About 40,000 members of the law enforcement agencies have been deployed in Chittagong to control the election field. In addition, 115 judicial and executive magistrates are active in the field for legal supervision. Zahidul Islam Miah said, "A striking force is working under each magistrate. Regular searches are being conducted based on intelligence information and some illegal money has already been seized."
The returning officer said that although importance is given to every upazila of the district, special vigilance has been kept in important areas like Sitakunda and Raojan. If any indication of any untoward situation is found, immediate action is being taken with utmost importance.
According to the district administration, the total number of voters in Chittagong in this election is 66,82,517. Male and female voters are 34,83,877 and 31,98,570. 70 voters of the third gender will exercise their right to vote. Voting will be held in 1,965 centers in the district.
The returning officer expressed satisfaction and said that since the issuance of the election code of conduct, the overall environment in the district has been very peaceful and orderly due to the responsible role of all parties.
