


A special operation by the District Detective Police in Pabna has resulted in the arrest of three people, including a large quantity of illegal firearms, magazines, cartridges and other equipment.
The operation was conducted in Pakshi Marine Para and Diyarbaghail areas of Ishwardi upazila of the district on Tuesday.
A press briefing was organized at the Pabna Police Superintendent's office on Wednesday at 12 noon on the incident.
District Detective Police sources said that as part of a special operation to catch criminals ahead of the elections, the district police, acting on secret information, arrested Shahin (20) son of Kamal of Kathalia Chingrakhali village of Jhalakathi district and Hazrat Pramanik (47) of Diyarbaghail village from inside and outside the tin store room adjacent to the guest house of the WASA project adjacent to the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Anwar Zahid.
At that time, a foreign semi-automatic self-loaded rifle (SLR loaded magazine with 67 rounds of fresh cartridges), a foreign 22-bore rifle with magazine and fresh cartridges, and a single-barrel gun with a wooden butt were recovered from them. According to the confession of the arrested, a person named Mominul Islam Khokon (33), son of Badsha Mia, was arrested from Maniknagar Paschimpara in Ishwardi Upazila. At that time, a working 9mm pistol, 6 rounds of cartridges, a working 7.65mm pistol, 10 rounds of cartridges and 31 rounds of 12-bore fresh cartridges were recovered from inside the abandoned water tank of Babul Army.
The operation was conducted by Additional Superintendent of Police Bejinur Rahman, Police Inspector Rashidul Islam, DB SI Asit Kumar Basak, SI Benu, SI Abdul Latif, SI Zakaria, SI Burjahan, SI Mohidul, SI Selim Reza.
At the press briefing, Superintendent of Police Anwar Zahid said that the law enforcement forces conducted this operation after investigating for several days. Those who have been arrested were working as hired terrorists of identified people in Pabna. Those who are behind the scenes will also be brought under the law in stages.
