After two consecutive increases, gold prices have fallen in Bangladesh’s domestic market. The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has reduced the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 4,432 per bhori. The new price now stands at Tk 2,47,977 per bhori (11.664 grams).
BAJUS announced the revision in a notification on Thursday morning (April 9). The updated price took effect from 10:00 am that day and remains unchanged as of Saturday (April 11).
According to BAJUS, the adjustment follows a decline in the price of pure gold in the local market.
Under the new rates:
22-carat gold: Tk 2,47,977 per bhori 21-carat gold: Tk 2,36,720 per bhori 18-carat gold: Tk 2,02,848 per bhori Traditional gold: Tk 1,65,386 per bhori
Just a day earlier, on Wednesday, gold prices had surged by up to Tk 6,590 per bhori, making this latest drop significant.
BAJUS said the new rates will remain effective nationwide until further notice. Buyers must also pay an additional 5 percent VAT, which is collected by jewelers and deposited into the government treasury.
