


The Coast Guard has detained 6 smugglers carrying Burmese goods worth Tk 2.6 million from Myanmar in Patenga, Chattogram city.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq provided this information on Friday afternoon, November 7.
He stated that following a confidential tip-off, a special operation was executed by the Coast Guard Outpost Patenga in the maritime area near Patenga Sea Beach at 3 am on Friday. During this operation, 6 smugglers were captured along with 12,500 packets of cigarettes valued at Tk 2.6 million, 45 Burmese sarees and other items, as well as a boat utilized for smuggling, which had illegally entered from Myanmar while evading customs and taxes.
The process of initiating further legal actions against the confiscated goods, the boats involved in smuggling, and the arrested smugglers is currently in progress.
He mentioned that the Coast Guard will persist in conducting such operations in the future to combat smuggling.
