The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) arrested three members of an inter-district smuggling ring on Wednesday morning seizing 6,000 Yaba pills from a luxury vehicle displaying a fake Ministry of Home Affairs sticker.
Acting on a tip-off about smugglers using government decals to bypass security checks, DNC officials set up a watch point near the Ramu Rubber Garden on the Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway. At approximately 7:30 am, authorities intercepted a suspicious white Toyota C-HR.
A thorough search of the vehicle revealed 6,000 Yaba tablets concealed in three heavily taped containers. Officials immediately seized the drugs, the vehicle, and four smartphones.
The arrested suspects were identified as Sabbir Hossain, 36, from Comilla; Sima Islam, 22, from Narayanganj; and Urmi Akhter Usha, 18, from Dhaka.
Somen Mondal, Deputy Director of the DNC Cox's Bazar office, confirmed the arrests. "Using forged government stickers to evade law enforcement is a deeply concerning tactic," Mondal stated. He added that an intensive investigation is actively underway to determine how the suspects obtained the sensitive decal and to identify any larger criminal networks or financiers behind the operation.
DNC Inspector Mohammad Mizanur Rahman has filed a case against the suspects under the Narcotics Control Act at the Ramu Police Station.
