


Gazipur Metropolitan Police arrested two individuals and seized illegal firearms, including two foreign-made pistols, during a special operation in the city's Pajulia area on Tuesday evening.
The suspects, identified as Tanjim Ahmed Sohel and Md. Babu, were detained following an intelligence tip-off. During a press briefing on Wednesday morning, officials from the Sadar Police Station confirmed the arrests.
The operation, led by Officer-in-Charge Md. Aminul Islam and Inspector (Investigation) Mehedi Hasan, resulted in the recovery of two foreign pistols, two magazines, and 10 rounds of ammunition. Police also impounded an unregistered TVS Apache 4V 160cc motorcycle from the suspects' possession.
A formal case has been filed against the duo under the Arms Act, and they have been forwarded to court.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police emphasized that strict legal action has been initiated and stated that special operations will continue across the metropolis to recover illegal weapons and maintain public safety.
