


A large-scale tree plantation drive was launched at Nandikathi Model Government Primary School in Nalchiti on Wednesday to promote environmental conservation and combat the effects of climate change.
The initiative is part of a nationwide campaign aiming to plant 250 million trees over the next five years. Local officials and community leaders inaugurated the program by planting various fruit and forest saplings on the school grounds.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Rizvi Ahmed Sabuj attended the event alongside other notable figures, including Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Nalchiti unit General Secretary Shamsul Alam Khan Bahar, Upazila BNP President Anisur Rahman Helal Khan, and Headmaster Md. Emdadul Haque.
Speakers at the inauguration urged citizens to plant trees extensively, highlighting their critical role in maintaining ecological balance and ensuring a livable environment for future generations.
Earlier in the day, guests and local teachers gathered to watch a live broadcast of the Primary Education Medal-2026 award ceremony, which took place at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Dhaka.
