Medical camp inaugurated by Dr. Golam Mostafa Nadim. Medical services and dignity kits distributed to flood victims in Lama.
A mobile medical camp provided urgent healthcare and essential hygiene kits to flood-affected residents in Lama, Bandarban, on Wednesday. Organized by the Upazila Health Complex and the NGO Green Hill, with funding from UNFPA Bangladesh, the initiative aims to prevent waterborne and post-flood disease outbreaks.
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Golam Mostafa Nadim inaugurated the day-long camp at Kalabura Para in the Harinjhiri area. A medical team led by Dr. Shakib treated 250 patients, dispensing free medicines and administering EPI vaccines to children and adolescents.
The initiative prioritized vulnerable community members. Aid workers distributed 50 baby kits to pregnant and lactating mothers, 150 dignity kits to flood-hit families, and 60 menstrual health management (MHM) kits to adolescent girls.
Recent heavy rains and landslides inundated Lama’s low-lying areas, displacing families and elevating public health risks. This rapid intervention offers crucial preventative care to the recovering community. Representatives from UNFPA, JPAIGO, and Green Hill attended the event to oversee the relief efforts.
