


The Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET) concluded its two-day CSE Carnival 2026, bringing together more than 1,200 students from across Bangladesh for one of the country's largest university technology festivals.
The event, organized by DUET's Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), ended Saturday with a closing ceremony and prize distribution at the university's Shaheed Shakil Parvez Auditorium.
Speaking as chief guest, DUET Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Engr. Mohammad Iqbal said the participation of students from across the country demonstrated the growing interest in technology, innovation, and research. "More than 1,200 students from different parts of Bangladesh took part in this festival, making it a major platform for technology enthusiasts," he said. "Our CSE Department remains committed to developing skilled technology professionals through practical education and research."
He encouraged students to use their knowledge not only for personal success but also to improve society through technological innovation.
DUET Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Arefin Kawsar described computer science as more than coding, calling it "the art of solving problems." He urged participants to view challenges as opportunities and continue pursuing innovation.
Gazipur Deputy Commissioner Md. Nurul Karim Bhuiyan praised the students' projects, saying innovations in agriculture, engineering, healthcare, and other fields demonstrate how technology can contribute to national development.
The closing ceremony was chaired by Prof. Dr. Momtaz Begum, Head of the CSE Department. Other speakers included Prof. Dr. Utpal Kumar Das, Director of Student Welfare, and Prof. Dr. Moha. Abu Tayyab, Acting Registrar.
Special guests included Prof. Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad, President of the Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad Committee and professor at BRAC University, and Mohammad Tawrit, CEO of BdREN.
The carnival was held as part of Innovers Bangladesh's National Science and Technology Carnival 2026, with support from the DUET Computer Society and Whiteboard Initiatives. Students from more than 100 universities participated in a series of competitions and exhibitions.
The first day featured an ICT Olympiad and project showcase, while the second day included an Inter-University Programming Contest (IUPC) and an AI Hackathon. Winners were recognized during the closing ceremony, marking the end of the two-day event.
