


Pabna College hosted a condolence meeting and prayer mahfil on Monday afternoon in memory of its late Governing Body President Zahurul Islam Babu.
Held at the college's teachers' auditorium, the event paid tribute to Babu, who was a central executive member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), a former General Secretary (GS) and Senate member of Rajshahi University and a prominent student leader in the 1980s. Colleagues and loved ones remembered him as a soft-spoken, humane philanthropist, a dedicated sports organizer and a politician known for his clean image.
The commemorative gathering was presided over by Pabna College Principal Ju Ha Mohammad Atiqullah. It began with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Alhaj Mohammad Hafizullah, Assistant Professor of Islamic History and Culture. Iyad Ali Mridha Pavel, Head of the Bangla Department moderated the session.
During the meeting, the late president’s wife along with Vice-Principal Rashed Hossain Faruk Rony, Dr. Mahbubul Alam Parvez and several governing body members and teachers delivered speeches reflecting on Babu's life and his lifelong contributions to society and education.
The program concluded with special prayers seeking eternal peace for his departed soul. Members of the college’s governing body, teaching staff and employees attended the gathering to pay their final respects to the beloved leader and educator.
