A 24-year-old college student was killed and his friend seriously injured after their motorcycle collided head-on with a pick-up truck in Saidpur, Nilphamari.
The deceased, Sadbin Islam son of Md. Selim from Islambagh (Chini Masjid) area in Saidpur town was an honors student at Nilphamari Government College. The injured rider Fuad Hossain was riding with him at the time of the crash.
According to eyewitnesses the two were returning home around 2 am on Sunday via Saidpur Bypass Road and Golahat area when their motorcycle struck a pick-up parked by the roadside in Muja More. Sadbin died on the spot, while Fuad sustained serious injuries.
Fire Service personnel and Highway Police rushed to the scene, recovered the body and took Fuad to the hospital for treatment.
Saidpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rezaul Karim Reza confirmed the incident, adding that the body has been handed over to the family who did not file any complaint regarding the accident.
