


The annual Nazrul National Cultural Competition with based on educational institutions was inaugurated in Louhjang, Munshiganj organized by the Upazila Administration.
Munshiganj-2 MP Ed. Abdus Salam Azad was scheduled to attend as chief guest but could not due to other commitments. The ceremony was chaired by Upazila Executive Officer Farzana Bobby Mitu and moderated by Assistant Election Officer Md. Jewel with teachers, students and residents from various professions in attendance.
Speakers paying tribute to national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam included Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Erfanur Rahman, Munshiganj District BNP committee member M Shuvo Ahmed, Acting Principal of Government Louhjang University Md. Shahidur Rahman Sikder and Bengali department lecturer Md. Jahidul Islam.
Also present were several upazila officials including the agriculture, health, education and social service officers along with headmasters from Louhjang Model Pilot High School and Louhjang Girls High School, plus teachers and students from various institutions.
Organizers said the competition aims to boost interest in national culture, literature and creativity among students while helping them build their talents. Students from multiple educational institutions are set to participate.
Speakers at the opening ceremony emphasized that cultural involvement, alongside academics, plays a key role in shaping students' talent and mindset. They stressed the importance of continuing such initiatives to connect younger generations with Bangladesh's cultural heritage.
The event concluded with a cultural program featuring performances by students from various schools in the upazila.
