Abdul Hai Shikder and Shabnam Mustari to Receive Nazrul Medal 2026

Poet and researcher Abdul Hai Shikder and Nazrul Sangeet artist Shabnam Mustari have been selected for the ‘Nazrul Medal 2026’ in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the study and practice of Kazi Nazrul Islam’s works.

The decision was made unanimously at a meeting of the concerned committee on Wednesday chaired by Professor Dr. Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain the Vice-Chancellor of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University.

According to university sources Nazrul Medal will be awarded in two categories this year. Abdul Hai Shikder has been selected for his contributions to Nazrul research while Shabnam Mustari has been selected for her contribution to Nazrul music.

Professor Dr. Md. Habib-ul-Mawla, head of the Department of Bangla Language and Literature and member-secretary of the committee, said the awards will be formally handed over to the two recipients on Monday during a special session of the university’s Nazrul Jayanti celebration.
