Bangladesh recorded its highest number of daily dengue hospital admissions this year, with 1,097 new patients admitted across the country in the past 24 hours. Three more people have also died from the mosquito-borne disease, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest figures were released in the DGHS daily dengue bulletin on Sunday (August 30).
According to the DGHS, the latest deaths have pushed Bangladesh's dengue death toll to 93 so far this year.
August has been the deadliest month, with 39 dengue-related deaths recorded so far. The monthly breakdown shows:
The sharp rise in cases and deaths in August has raised further concern over the country's worsening dengue situation.
The DGHS said 1,097 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals between 8am Saturday and 8am Sunday.
With the latest admissions, the number of people hospitalised with dengue in Bangladesh this year has reached 34,683.
At the same time, 793 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals during the past 24 hours. So far this year, 32,188 dengue patients have recovered and returned home.
Dhaka Division reported the highest number of new dengue hospital admissions over the past 24 hours, with 459 patients.

The figures indicate that dengue transmission continues to place significant pressure on hospitals, particularly in Dhaka and several other major divisions.
The latest DGHS data show a sharp acceleration in dengue infections during August. With 1,097 hospital admissions in a single day, the country has recorded its highest daily number of dengue patients requiring hospital treatment this year.
Health authorities continue to urge people to take preventive measures against Aedes mosquitoes, which transmit dengue, and to seek medical attention promptly if symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, body aches, vomiting or other warning signs develop.
