Malaysia will begin recruiting 200,000 Bangladeshi workers by the end of September with the process expected to finish within six months, State Minister for Local Government the Rural Development and Co-operatives Mir Shahe Alam said Sunday.
He spoke to reporters after a meeting between Malaysian High Commissioner Mohd Shuhada Othman and LGRD Minister Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan at the Secretariat.
"Manpower export from Bangladesh will begin by the end of September and be completed within six months" Shahe Alam said, citing the high commissioner.
Asked about the number of workers also he said all 200,000 would be recruited through Malaysia's listed companies.
He added that Malaysia will also take an additional 10,000 Bangladeshi workers at zero cost and meaning these workers will not bear any recruitment expenses. This intake will also start in phases from late September.
Asked whether the meeting discussed Bangladesh's letter to Malaysia regarding LNG imports the state minister said the topic did not come up.
