Newly crowned Miss Korea 2026 Woo Seo Yoon is facing online speculation about possible cosmetic surgery also reigniting debate over beauty standards in pageants.

Woo won the national title in Seoul by beating 25 other finalists as t he Sports Chosun reported. Visibly surprised, she said, "I didn't expect it at all, so I couldn't even prepare an acceptance speech." She thanked organizers and fellow contestants for making the final memorable.

Woo is the daughter of former basketball player Woo Ji-won and appeared on television with him as a child according to Daum.

After her win the social media users compared old broadcast clips with recent photos and pointing to apparent changes in her eyes, nose and jawline the Maeil Business reported. Reactions were divided: some questioned whether pageants still value natural looks while others said the differences could stem from weight loss, makeup, styling or natural aging.

Woo has not commented publicly the Daum reported. Miss Korea's rules do not bar contestants who have had cosmetic procedures.

Founded in 1957 the Miss Korea has long been a stepping stone to entertainment careers with past winners including Kim Sung-ryung, Kim Sa-rang and Honey Lee according to Hankook Ilbo.
