A drug addict son, Mustafa Pramanik, has been accused of hacking his father, Nizam Pramanik (60), to death while he was praying in Pabna.

The accused son has been arrested in the incident. Three sub-inspectors (SIs) of Sadar Police Station were injured while arresting him.

‎The incident took place at around 8 pm on Sunday (November 2) in Puratan Bhadurdangi village of Chartarapur Union of Sadar Upazila.

‎Pabna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdus Salam confirmed this information.

‎The deceased Nizam Pramanik is the son of the deceased Intaj Pramanik of that village. He worked as an agricultural worker. The accused son, Mustafa Pramanik, also worked as a farmer with his father. However, he was a drug addict.

According to police and family sources, the deceased Nizam Pramanik returned home after selling milk in the new market. After eating and drinking, he had just stood up for the Isha prayers. At that time, his son Moskafa seized the opportunity and left the house, blocking the door and stabbing his father with a razor blade, ensuring his death. Then he himself locked himself in the next room and sat down. Later, the people of the house realized the matter and went to the house and saw the body of his father Nizam lying there. Then, the relatives and locals locked the boy inside the house and informed the police. The police came and recovered the body. Then the accused was arrested and taken to the police station. ‎ It is known that during the arrest, SI Abu Bakar Siddique, SI Ziaur Rahman, and SI Abu Raihan of Sadar Police Station were injured in the stabbing of the accused. Among them, SI Ziaur Rahman has been admitted to the Sujanagar Upazila Health Complex. The other two have been given primary treatment. ‎ ‎Mizanur Rahman, another son of the deceased, said, "We are lying in the room after eating and drinking." At that time, he blocked the room and hacked my father to death while he was praying. Before that, he had also seriously injured me with a mahogany shield. Today, he also went to the field to search for me with a knife in a towel. The people of the house realized this and warned me. ‎ ‎He also said that he often asked for money from my father and us for drugs. If he did not give it, he would vandalize the house. He should be punished. ‎ ‎Pabna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdus Salam said, the body has been recovered. The accused has been arrested. Three SIs have been injured. The police team is still at the scene. I will be able to provide details later.
