RAB-7 has arrested two primary suspects involved in the brutal murder of Ashfaq Kabir Sajid, a 17-year-old student of BAF Shaheen College. The arrests were made during coordinated raids in Khagrachhari and Bagerhat on Saturday night.
The suspects have been identified as Md. Rana (alias Michael Rana) and Md. Ilias.
According to RAB-7, the victim, Sajid, was an 11th-grade student residing in a rented house near the Baklia DC Road graveyard. On the afternoon of April 12, Sajid was meeting a friend when a group of miscreants intercepted him. The attackers forcibly took him to a nearby under-construction building.
When Sajid attempted to escape his captors, he was severely beaten and thrown down the elevator shaft from the 8th floor. Local residents rescued him and rushed him to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), where doctors declared him dead. The victim's father subsequently filed a murder case at Chawkbazar Police Station.
RAB-7 Assistant Director ARM Mozaffar Hossain confirmed that Rana was apprehended at the Manikchhari Mahamuni bus stand in Khagrachhari. Simultaneously, Ilias was arrested in the Boro Khajurar Hat area of Bagerhat. Both suspects have been handed over to Chawkbazar Police for further legal proceedings.
