


A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck the North Sumatra region of Indonesia early Sunday morning. According to the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences, the tremor occurred at 3:06 a.m. local time.
The earthquake originated at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers (approximately 6 miles). While shallow quakes often result in stronger surface shaking, there were no immediate reports of major casualties or significant structural damage. Local authorities are monitoring the situation for potential aftershocks.
