A medical technologist at the 100-bed Jhalakati Sadar Hospital has been issued a show cause notice for allowing outsiders to perform X-rays a violation of hospital rules.
The issue came to light after a photo was shared on social media on August 17, showing Dilip Kumar Shil a radiographer at the hospital, letting unauthorized individuals conduct X-ray procedures. The following day, Hospital Superintendent Dr. Md. Masum Iftekhar issued the notice with stating that the act violated Sections 2(a) and 2(b) of the Government Servants Rules which prohibit government employees from delegating official duties to outsiders.
Shil has been given three working days to submit a written explanation.
Dr. Iftekhar confirmed the development, saying the matter was addressed as soon as the hospital authorities became aware of the social media post. He said a formal notice had been issued and warned that if a satisfactory response is not received within the given time frame, further disciplinary action would be taken in accordance with government rules.
Responding to the allegations, Dilip Kumar Shil confirmed receiving the notice and said he would submit his reply within the stipulated period.
The incident has raised concerns about oversight and adherence to protocol in public health facilities, prompting hospital authorities to reiterate the importance of following proper procedures during medical diagnostic work.
