


A fish trader was killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between a pickup and a passenger tomtom on the Lakhai-Habiganj regional road Thursday morning.
The accident occurred around 7:30am in the Tiskar Pul area of Lakhai police station. The victim identified as Md. Bachchu Mia 40, son of Abu Taleb of Muriauk village was sitting beside the driver of a fish-carrying pickup when it collided head-on with an oncoming battery-powered tomtom. He died on the spot.
Four passengers in the tomtom sustained serious injuries. Locals rescued them and rushed them to Nasirnagar Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
The pickup driver fled the scene immediately after the crash.
Lakhai Police Station Sub-Inspector Md. Shah Alam reached the spot, prepared a report and recovered the body. Officer-in-Charge Sharif Ahmed confirmed the incident, saying the pickup driver remains absconding and legal action is underway.
