


Four more children have died with measles-related symptoms in Bangladesh over the past 24 hours, taking the combined number of deaths from measles and suspected measles cases to 922 since March 15.
The latest figures were released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in its regular measles situation report on Wednesday.
According to the DGHS, two children died with measles symptoms in Dhaka Division during the latest 24-hour period.
One child each also died in Sylhet and Barishal divisions.
Since the outbreak began on March 15, a total of 823 deaths have been reported among people with measles symptoms, while 99 deaths have occurred among laboratory-confirmed measles cases.
This brings the combined death toll to 922.
The DGHS reported 87 newly confirmed measles cases across the country during the latest 24-hour period.
Another 931 people developed measles-related symptoms, bringing the combined number of new confirmed cases and symptomatic patients to 1,018.
Since March 15, a total of 18,076 people have been diagnosed with measles, while 145,711 people have developed measles symptoms, according to the latest DGHS data.
The health authority said 127,076 patients with measles or measles-related symptoms have been admitted to hospitals across Bangladesh since March 15.
Of them, 122,805 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
The latest figures indicate that measles transmission and related illnesses remain a significant public health concern in Bangladesh, with health authorities continuing to monitor cases and hospital admissions nationwide.
