GAU Teachers' Association congratulates newly appointed Prime Minister and Cabinet

The Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) Teachers' Association is happy and elated at the country's democratic transition through the landslide victory of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in the Thirteenth National Parliament Election (2026) held with democratic spirit, people's expectations and participation. On February 18 (Wednesday), in the first meeting of the Teachers' Association's 2026 Executive Committee, the GACU Teachers' Association extended its warmest greetings and heartfelt congratulations to the newly appointed Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and all the members of the new cabinet.

In the congratulatory message, the leaders of the Teachers' Association said that the new government formed by the people's verdict will further strengthen the country's democratic institutions and bring about epoch-making positive changes in the education, research and innovation sectors.

The message further said that under the capable and accomplished leadership of the new Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Bangladesh's fragile democracy and voting rights will be well established, through which transparency and accountability will be ensured at every level of Bangladesh, as well as the air of good governance will flow throughout the country. They also expressed their optimism that Tarique Rahman's government will fulfill 100 percent of the trust and unwavering faith of the people of the country in this bloody victory of democracy.

In this context, the General Secretary of the Teachers' Association, Professor Dr. Mohammad Saiful Alam, said, "This is our expectation that the new government will ensure an education and research-friendly environment. If the autonomy of the university, academic freedom and investment in research increase, the creativity and innovative power of the young generation will develop. At the same time, we believe that effective initiatives will be taken to implement employment-oriented and skill-based education." On the other hand, the President of the Teachers' Association, Professor Dr. Nasrin Akhter Ivy said, “It is our hope that the new government formed through the referendum will start a positive chapter in the development and welfare of the country. We are optimistic that the government will play an effective role in building a state based on justice, equality and human values, keeping education and research at the center of national priorities.”

The Teachers’ Association expressed deep optimism that the new cabinet led by the Prime Minister will play a leading role in fulfilling the aspirations of the people by embodying the spirit of the Great Liberation War and the July 24th Uprising. The Gazipur Agricultural University Teachers’ Association reiterated its commitment to all-out cooperation in the development and progress of the country, wishing the newly formed government overall success, stability and welfare-oriented activities.
