As part of a climate-resilience initiative, educational materials were distributed today among 100 students at the Alor Bhuban Officers' Club auditorium in Kurigram Sadar.
The distribution was organized under the "Elimination of Extreme Poverty" (EEP) project, implemented by Islamic Relief Bangladesh. The program aims to support children from underprivileged families living in areas vulnerable to extreme weather and environmental challenges.
Kurigram Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Ismail Hossain attended the event and urged students to focus on their studies to serve society in the future.
Students, including fifth-grader Jim from Harishwar Primary School, received school bags and umbrellas—essential items for attending classes during Kurigram’s frequent rains and heatwaves.
Dr. Md. Kamrul Islam, Project Director of Islamic Relief Bangladesh, highlighted that the project focuses on reducing school dropout rates by providing necessary logistics to marginalized students.
The event concluded with an advisory session where officials encouraged parents and teachers to prioritize the students' academic growth as a means of long-term social empowerment.
