Accused AD Mahmudul Hasan

Mahmudul Hasan, Assistant Director of BADC Seed Processing Center in Tebunia, Pabna, has been accused of abusing his power, misbehaving with his senior officials, harassing them, and ignoring them. He is trying to control everything by showing his power due to his house in Bogra. It has been alleged that he has been harassing officials in various ways if they do not listen to him.

It has also been alleged that Mahmudul Hasan used workers to stop work and form a human chain against the engineer due to a recent verbal altercation with a retired deputy assistant engineer. There have been repeated complaints and GDs filed at the police station in this regard. As a result, there is dissatisfaction among workers and officials at the BADC Seed Processing Farm. As a result, normal operations have been disrupted.

The complaint states that the manpower crisis at the BADC Seed Processing Center has become severe. The work is being carried out with only three people against 26 posts. Officials have been using retired Deputy Assistant Engineer Jahangir Alam to work for office work for a long time. On January 5, the workers went on strike over a demand. On that day, when Jahangir Alam went to the office, the workers prevented him from entering and misbehaved with him.

Then on January 11, when retired Deputy Assistant Engineer Jahangir Alam went to the office, he found that there was no chair or table in his sitting room. Later, when he told the office peon Sabuj about the matter, he said that the workers had removed the chair or table from his office on the orders of Assistant Director Mahmudul Hasan Sir. After a while, when Mahmudul Hasan came to the office, Jahangir Alam asked him about it, and an argument and abuse started between the two. At one point, the workers stopped them when the two became aggressive.

The next day, on January 12, the workers formed a human chain at the office gate demanding punishment for retired Deputy Assistant Engineer Jahangir Alam. They demanded justice for the attack on Assistant Director Mahmudul Hasan, calling Jahangir Alam an Awami League ally.

Later, on January 12, Assistant Director Mahmudul Hasan and retired Deputy Assistant Engineer Jahangir Alam filed a written complaint with the Joint Director (BIPR) of BADC Tebunia. The Assistant Director also filed a GD with Sadar Police Station.

In this regard, retired Deputy Assistant Engineer Jahangir Alam said, "I asked AD where my chair and table were. Then he told me, what kind of table is it, what do you have here, you don't have a job. Saying all this, he abused me in foul language. Which is defamatory. He cannot remove my chair and table without informing the senior officer of the office. Again, there was a problem with AD, I have no problem with the workers. Yet he formed a human chain against me with the workers."

In this regard, Joint Director of Tebunia Seed Processing Center, Krishibid Md. Kazem Ali said, 'He cannot humiliate an elderly person. Because we are the ones making him work for the needs of our office. We have received complaints from two people, we are investigating.'

He also said, 'Assistant Director Mahmudul Hasan has not worked for 8 months after August 5. He is still working irregularly. He is creating obstacles in various farm activities. He is not obeying any senior officials. He is trying to control everything according to his own wishes. He is showing the influence of power. I have been asking him to take the seeds after checking their quality at various times. But he is again rejecting them as not up to standard.'

Joint Director and Agriculturist Kazem Ali also said, 'The collection, processing and storage of Aman seeds in the storage facility should be completed by January 22. But the workers are refraining from working in collusion with the assistant director of the center and the workers. As a result, normal work is not being done. Due to this, the production and storage of quality seeds is being disrupted. There is a fear that the seeds will not be preserved within the stipulated time.’

BADC Pabna Marketing Department Deputy Director Dr. Md. Sadek Hossain said, ‘AD Mahmudul Hasan behaves extremely arrogantly and disrespectfully. He does not respect any senior. Since he lives in Bogra, he shows his power. Before August 5, he was in cahoots with the Awami League. Now he has changed his mind and is posing as BNP. He does not care about anyone. Earlier, three complaints have been made against him to his superiors and authorities on various issues. They are being investigated. A departmental case has also been filed against him.’

Tebunia BADC (Farm) Deputy Director SM Mahbub Or Rashid said, ‘AD Mahmudul Hasan has also harassed me in various ways in the past because he did not do as he was told. He has posted about me in various ways on social media. He is trying to keep everyone in the loop. If you do not listen to him, you are harassed in various ways. I have complained about this to the higher authorities in writing.

In this regard, the accused Assistant Director Mahmudul Hasan said, 'None of the allegations made against me are true, all are false. I was attacked by retired Deputy Assistant Engineer Jahangir Alam. If the workers had not stopped me, something might have happened to me that day. I have given a written complaint to the Director Jugnu in this regard and filed a GD at the police station. But in the past few days, the Joint Director Sir has not taken any action in this regard.'

He said, 'My higher authorities know why I have not been to office for 8 months. I refrained from working after informing them due to the situation. There is no point in showing influence of power here. I have not behaved arrogantly with anyone. And the workers themselves formed a human chain after not being able to accept the attack on me.
