A heart patient named Chunnu Mia (48) has become critical due to a drug dealer's fraud in doctor's prescription in Katiadi, Kishoreganj. In this incident, the patient has filed a written complaint in the name of drug dealer Gopal Chandra Sutradhar to the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer.
It is known that poor Chunnu Mia of Ganergaon village of Achmita Union of the upazila felt pressure in his chest and went to the outpatient department of the Upazila Health Complex on November 2 last year. Doctor Sharia Nazim diagnosed heart disease after conducting an examination and prescribed medicine. Patient Chunnu Mia went to Gurudev Pharmacy in Katiadi Old Bazar to buy medicine with the doctor's prescription. Drug dealer Gopal Chandra Sutradhar showed the prescription and asked him to give him medicine. Instead of giving the medicine, he cut out the doctor's prescription with a pen and wrote on the reverse side of the prescription all the medicines available in his shop and asked the patient Chunnu Mia to take them as prescribed. Chunnu Mia took the medicine for about a month. It caused various side effects in the body. He informed the doctor of the Upazila Health Complex on January 4. The doctor advised Chunnu Mia to take the medicine as prescribed.
Patient Chunnu Mia said, I do not know how to read. When I took the prescription to Gurudev Pharmacy, the shop owner cut out the doctor's writing and wrote the medicine himself. He asked me to take them. I have about two thousand rupees worth of medicine from his shop. My condition has worsened after taking that medicine. I want justice for the fraudster Gopal Chandra Sutradhar.
Regarding the complaint, drug dealer Gopal Chandra Sutradhar said that I have passed B.Com and have been in the drug business for about 40 years. The patient got better after taking that medicine. Now, a conspiracy is being hatched against me at the instigation of others. When asked about writing medicine himself after getting a doctor's prescription, he said, "It was my mistake." Katiadi Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Syed Md. Shahriar said, "I received a written complaint on January 4 about selling medicine by forging a doctor's prescription."
A three-member investigation committee, headed by the resident medical officer, has been formed to investigate the matter. Necessary legal action will be taken after the investigation.
