


Bangladesh Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman said, our army is making a significant contribution to the outside world beyond the country's borders today.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the Presidential Parade held at the BMA Parade Ground in Bhatiari, Chittagong on Tuesday (December 2). The parade was held to mark the commissioning of officer cadets of the 89th Long-Term Course and 60th Special Course of the Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA).
The Army Chief said, the Bangladesh Military Academy was established in 1974 with the aim of producing army officers capable of leading the 21st century. Under the leadership of officers commissioned from this internationally renowned academy, our army is today making a significant contribution to the outside world beyond the country's borders.
The Army Chief told the cadets who completed their training that by taking the oath, the newly commissioned officers have been entrusted with the sacred responsibility of protecting the independence and sovereignty of the country.
General Waqar-uz-Zaman expressed his determination to develop the army into a trained, disciplined and professional force equipped with modern weapons. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the Commandant of the Academy, all the concerned officers, JCOs, NCOs, soldiers and civilian officials and employees for displaying the impressive parade.
Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman was present as the chief guest at the ceremony and inspected the impressive parade and received the salute of the parade. He also distributed awards among the meritorious cadets. After the rigorous military training, a total of 184 officer cadets of the 89th BMA Long Term Course and 20 officer cadets of the 60th BMA Special Course received their commission through this impressive parade. Among the newly commissioned army officers, there are 183 male and 21 female army officers.
Company Senior Under Officer Azmain Ishraq won the 'Sword of Honour' as the best cadet of the 89th BMA Long Term Course and the 'Chief of Army Staff Gold Medal' for excellence in military affairs. Later, the graduating cadets took a formal oath to protect the independence and sovereignty of the country. Then, the guests and the parents and guardians of the graduating cadets presented the rank badges to the new officers. At the beginning of the program, when the chief guest, Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman, arrived at the BMA Parade Ground, he was welcomed by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Army Training and Doctrine Command, GOC 24 Infantry Division and Area Commander Chittagong Area and Commandant of Bangladesh Military Academy.
High-ranking military and civilian officials, parents and guardians of newly commissioned officers, and media persons were present at the ceremony to witness the colorful parade.
