The son of Rajshahi Metropolitan Sessions Judge Abdur Rahman was fatally attacked by an assailant who broke into the family's residence in the Dabtala area of the city on Thursday around 3 pm.
The victim, Tausif Rahman Sumon (16), a ninth-grade student, was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) Hospital by building residents but was pronounced dead on arrival.
During the horrific incident, both Sumon's mother, Tasmin Nahar, and the assailant sustained injuries. Both were admitted to RMC Hospital, with the mother receiving treatment and the attacker taken to the operating room. Details of Entry: The attacker gained entry to the 10-story Spark View building by registering a false name, "Limon," and falsely claiming to be the judge’s brother to the doorman, Messer Ali. The attacker carried a bag and arrived at the flat on the fifth floor around 2:30 pm. The doorman, who had never seen the young man before, was alerted about the brutal attack approximately 30 minutes later.
Police Investigation: Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Abu Sufian inspected the scene around 5 pm. He reported that a driving license was found on the assailant, suggesting he was a driver by profession. Crucially, the Police Commissioner revealed that the victim's mother, Tasmin Nahar, had previously lodged a General Diary (GD) against the individual at the Surma police station in Sylhet, indicating a possible prior dispute or conflict between the parties. Police are conducting a detailed investigation to clarify the motive behind the attack.
