


A workshop titled “Capital Investment Plan” was held at Pabna Municipality on Wednesday under the Cluster Development Plan (CDP) with support from the World Bank.
The workshop was organized under the Resilient Urban and Territorial Development Project (RUTDP), which is being implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).
The event took place at the Pabna Municipality office and was chaired by Municipality Administrator Md. Moniruzzaman. LGED Assistant Engineer Mosharraf Hossain attended as chief guest.
Among the special guests were Pabna District Bar Association President Advocate Masud Khandaker, LGED environmentalist and team leader Ahsan Imam, urban planner Tamanna Salam, social management specialist MTS Mehmud, Hasibul Haque, and environmentalist Mahmuda Khatun.
Speakers said the project aims to strengthen economic links between rural and urban areas by improving connectivity between municipalities in the southeastern and northwestern regions of the country. The initiative also focuses on building climate-resilient urban management systems.
In the first phase, the project will be implemented in 81 municipalities and six city corporations across 36 districts. Around 2.1 crore people are expected to benefit, with women making up nearly half of the beneficiaries.
Officials said the project will support the development of modern urban services, including roads, sidewalks, street lighting, drainage systems, public toilets, markets, bus terminals, waste management stations, supermarkets, bridges, culverts, and municipal buildings.
The project, funded by the World Bank, will be implemented with consideration for social and environmental sustainability and with the participation of women.
Municipality Assistant Engineer Obaidul Haque, former councilor Shahidul Islam Lalu, Jubo Dal leader Taslim Hasan Khan Sweet, women leaders, municipal officials, and members of the Town Level Coordination Committee (TLCC) attended the workshop.
The event was coordinated by Pabna Municipality Executive Officer Md. Shahinuzzaman.
