


Paikgachha Municipality in Khulna has awarded scholarships of Tk 2,000 each to 25 poor and meritorious students under the Gender Action Plan (GAP) scholarship program.
The scholarship money was distributed on Wednesday morning at the municipality office conference room among students from Paikgachha Government High School, Government Girls High School, and Town Secondary School.
Speaking at the event, Municipal Administrator and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Wasiuzzaman Chowdhury said the municipality is working to ensure that financial hardship does not become a barrier to education.
Referring to the theme “Education is the backbone of the nation,” he said the GAP scholarship program aims to encourage students to continue their studies and become responsible citizens in the future.
He added that the municipality’s education-friendly initiative has been widely appreciated by local residents and guardians. Guardians also expressed gratitude for the financial assistance.
Paikgachha Municipality is continuing its efforts to build an educated and discrimination-free society through the proper implementation of the Gender Action Plan (GAP).
Among others present at the event were Upazila Health Officer Dr. Ahsan Ara Binte Ahmed, Municipal Secretary Lalu Sardar, Youth Development Officer Kamruzzaman, Inspector Operation Zulfikar Ali, Social Service Officer Anath Kumar Biswas, Primary Education Officer Sanjay Debnath, teacher Pradeep Shil, Municipality Chief Assistant Sheikh Ziaur Rahman, Senior Assistant Uttam Ghosh, and Bill Clerk Shahin Hossain.
