The Appellate Division has fixed Thursday (May 14) to deliver its order on petitions seeking suspension of the election results and oath-taking process in two parliamentary constituencies in Chittagong.
The petitions were filed by BNP candidate Aslam Chowdhury for Chittagong-4 and BNP candidate Sarwar Alamgir for Chittagong-2.
A partial hearing on the matter was held on Wednesday (May 13). Following the hearing, the court set Thursday for the order.
Supreme Court senior lawyer Shishir Monir confirmed the development.
The Bangladesh Election Commission published the gazette of elected MPs on February 13, one day after the 13th National Parliament election. The elected members later took oath on February 17.
However, due to court orders, the results of Chittagong-2 and Chittagong-4 have not yet been officially announced, and oath-taking in the two constituencies remains suspended.
