The Appellate Division has upheld the bail of former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor Selina Hayat Ivy in five cases.

On Sunday (May 10), the country’s highest court dismissed five separate leave-to-appeal petitions filed by the state. As a result, the bail granted to Ivy by the High Court remains effective.

Police arrested Ivy from her home in Narayanganj city in the early hours of May 9 last year. She was later shown arrested in 12 cases.

According to court documents, Ivy’s name was not included in the complaints of seven of those cases. Despite more than a year passing since her arrest, investigations into the cases have not yet been completed.

Ivy served as mayor of Narayanganj Municipality from 2003 to 2011. After the formation of Narayanganj City Corporation, she was elected mayor for three consecutive terms.
