Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli has once again etched his name in the history books during the opening match of the current IPL season. Returning to the crease after a significant break, Kohli led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to a dominant victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad.

In a display of pure class, Kohli struck an unbeaten 69 off just 38 balls. During this innings, he became the first player in IPL history to cross the 4,000-run milestone (in a specific category/format context). His career T20 franchise total now stands at a staggering 8,730 runs, the highest in the tournament's history.

Chasing a daunting target of 202, RCB chased down the total with 26 balls to spare, powered by Kohli’s 64th IPL half-century.

Speaking after the match, Kohli emphasized the importance of mental rest over physical preparation.

"The risk of fatigue was always greater for me than a lack of preparation," Kohli noted. "These breaks keep me fresh. Whenever I return, I come back with 120% strength."

RCB Captain Rajat Patidar lauded the veteran's performance, stating that Kohli’s hunger for runs remains unmatched. "What I saw in the nets is the same energy and desire to perform that he’s had since day one," Patidar said.
