Ireland secured a commanding 39-run victory over Bangladesh in the first T20I in Chattogram, marking their third T20I win against the hosts. The win was set up by aggressive batting from the Tector brothers and a destructive bowling spell from young spinner Matthew Humphreys in wet conditions.
Ireland won by 39 runs. Ireland posted an above-par score thanks to the Tector brothers.Harry Tector was the top scorer with an unbeaten 69 off 45 balls, hitting five sixes, dominating the end of the innings. His younger brother, Tim Tector, provided a blazing start with 32 off 19 balls, including clattering four boundaries in one over off Shoriful Islam.
Bangladesh struggled to contain Ireland, especially at the death. The chase was doomed early by a devastating Powerplay. Fast bowler Mark Adair, playing his first match since knee surgery, bowled a sensational opening spell that read 2-1-3-2. He removed key batsmen Litton Das and Parvez Hossain Emon. Left-arm spinner Matthew Humphreys sealed the victory, exploiting the wet ball to take 4 wickets for 13 runs, including three wickets in his final over (two stumped/LBW off consecutive deliveries).
Bangladesh crashed to 5 for 3 in the fourth over due to Adair's attack. Towhid Hridoy offered the only substantial resistance, hitting his fifth T20I half-century and adding 48 runs for the ninth wicket with Shoriful Islam, but it was too late to affect the outcome. Bangladesh has now lost four consecutive T20Is.
