The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has cast doubt on the immediate future of the 13th Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) with President Tamim Iqbal citing insufficient preparation time. Speaking after a recent board meeting in Mirpur Tamim emphasized that the franchise tournament—historically criticized for organizational flaws and scheduling conflicts—will only proceed when logistical standards are fully met. He stated firmly that the board refuses to host the BPL "just for the sake of doing it".

Additionally, the status of India's anticipated tour of Bangladesh this September, featuring three ODIs and three T20Is in Mirpur and Chattogram, remains unresolved. Despite the uncertainty, Tamim expressed high optimism following positive, ongoing discussions with the BCCI. Reassuring fans and stakeholders, he emphasized that Bangladesh is an "extremely safe country" and remains hopeful the Indian team will make the trip.

In a major developmental shift the BCB also approved the construction of a new, state-of-the-art Excellence Centre. Funded entirely by the board, this facility is a comprehensive two-to-three-year project aimed at prioritizing long-term player development over immediate results. Tamim hailed the decision as possibly the most significant move for Bangladesh cricket in years laying the groundwork for the nation's future athletic infrastructure.
