A seven-day public holiday for Eid-ul-Azha began on Monday, allowing government employees to remain on leave until May 31. Government offices will reopen on June 1.
The government initially scheduled a six-day holiday for the festival, starting Thursday, May 28. However, to ease home-bound travel rush, the government extended the vacation by an additional day through an executive order.
Under the revised schedule, May 28 is a general holiday for Eid-ul-Azha. This is paired with executive holidays on May 26 and 27, and three additional days from May 29 to 31. To accommodate the extended break, May 25 was declared a holiday, while employees compensated by working on the weekly holidays of Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24.
The Cabinet approved this adjustment on May 7, and the Ministry of Public Administration issued the official notification on May 24.
