


Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit Dhaka University on Tuesday to inaugurate a workshop organized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The workshop, titled “Transformation of Higher Education in Bangladesh: A Roadmap for Sustainable Excellence,” will begin at 10:00am at the university’s Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building.
UGC Chairman Professor Mamun Ahmed announced the details at a press conference held at the commission’s office on Monday afternoon.
According to the UGC, Tarique Rahman will attend the event as chief guest. Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon and the Prime Minister’s Education Adviser Mahdi Amin are also expected to attend.
The workshop will include five technical sessions focusing on improving the quality of higher education and developing skilled human resources.
Speaking at the press conference, Professor Mamun Ahmed said the workshop would help shape future government planning and policy direction for higher education.
The closing ceremony will be attended by Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor ABM Obaidul Islam, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology Vice-Chancellor Professor ABM Badruzzaman, North South University Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury and State University of Bangladesh Vice-Chancellor Professor Md. Akhtar Hossain Khan.
Tarique Rahman last visited the Dhaka University campus on December 27 last year, shortly after returning from the United Kingdom. During that visit, he paid respects at the grave of Inquilab Manch leader Osman Hadi.
