


Prime Minister Tarique Rahman virtually inaugurated the "Nazrul Year 2026-27" celebrations on Thursday, marking the 127th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. Connecting from his Tejgaon office, the Prime Minister launched the year-long program simultaneously across 64 districts and 74 selected upazilas, including Kurigram.
In Kurigram, the inauguration was celebrated with a cultural event at the Municipal Auditorium. Local organizations paid tribute to the Rebel Poet through renditions of his songs, dances, and poetry recitations.
Key attendees at the Kurigram event included Deputy Commissioner Annapurna Debnath, Superintendent of Police Khandaker Fazle Rabbi, Civil Surgeon Dr. Swapan Kumar Biswas, and district BNP leaders Hasibur Rahman Hasib and Sayed Ahmed Babu. Press Club President Aniruddha Reza and General Secretary Mahfuz Khandaker were also in attendance, alongside local administration officials, political figures, civil society members, and journalists.
