The July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum, established to honor the 2024 student-led movement, will officially be inaugurated on August 5. Following the ceremony, the museum will open its doors to the general public.Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury finalized this decision while presiding over a preparatory meeting at the Secretariat on Wednesday, ahead of the July Uprising Day 2026 observances.
The museum features a powerful collection of photographs, videos, rare documents, and the personal belongings of the martyrs and the injured. Visitors will experience the uprising's timeline through interactive digital displays and multimedia eyewitness accounts. A dedicated archive has also been established to assist researchers. Officials emphasized that the museum will serve not just as a memorial, but as a vital educational center to teach future generations about the struggles and sacrifices of the July Movement.
Tanjim Wahab, Director General of the museum, confirmed that final preparations are nearly complete. "The Ministry of Cultural Affairs and implementing agencies are finalizing digital content, exhibition materials, visitor management, and security arrangements," he stated. Despite multiple inauguration dates announced during the previous interim government, the museum had faced several delays until now.
