The Met Office issues a 48-hour heavy rain alert for Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected across four divisions of the country over the next 48 hours, prompting authorities to warn of potential landslides in the Chattogram region.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) issued the weather alert on Saturday afternoon. According to the forecast, parts of Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions are likely to experience rainfall ranging from 44 to 88 millimeters starting from 1:00 PM today.

The Met Office warned that this intense downpour could trigger landslides in the hilly areas of the Chattogram division. Residents in these regions are advised to remain vigilant.

Additionally, temporary waterlogging is expected in several low-lying urban areas across the affected divisions due to the sustained rainfall.
