


Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong will visit Dhaka on April 2 for a two-day trip. His visit will be the first high-level engagement from Beijing since Bangladesh’s new government took office.
During the visit, Sun will lead the Chinese delegation at the 14th Bangladesh–China Foreign Secretary-level meeting in Dhaka. Bangladesh’s side is expected to be led by Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam. Officials say the meeting will review key areas of bilateral cooperation and discuss future collaboration.
On Thursday (March 12), Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman to discuss preparations for the visit. Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir was also present.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the upcoming meeting will provide a comprehensive review of Bangladesh–China relations and explore new opportunities for cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
During his stay in Dhaka, Sun Weidong is also expected to meet senior government officials and political leaders.
