A suicide bombing at a security camp in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has left at least eight military personnel and one civilian dead, local police confirmed. The attack also wounded 35 security officials.
The assault occurred late Thursday night when an attacker attempted to drive an explosives-laden vehicle into a scouts camp in the Bajaur district, near the Afghan border. The blast caused severe damage to the camp's main gate and surrounding walls.
The militant group Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the bombing. Bajaur, a tribal area situated along the border, has historically been a flashpoint for militant activity in the region.
Pakistani authorities have not yet released an official statement detailing any follow-up security operations in the area.
